After discussion, motion by Heather Cargill, seconded by Stephen Crowley, to submit Betty’s recommendations to the Board of Selectmen for their review in setting the fees.
ROAD RACE
The road race was held on Saturday, May 3. There were 159 runners. Everything went well. There were about 100 participants for the fun run. It was suggested to break the fun run into three categories next year: ages 2 through 5, ages 6 through 9, and ages 10 through 12.
OLD BUSINESS
All seven Concerts on the Common currently scheduled will be able to be offered.
The Washington, DC trip was successful. There were 38 people who attended. It was crowded in Washington, DC, but everyone had a wonderful time.
NEW BUSINESS
Betty received correspondence from Toma Duhani, DPW Director, indicating Recreation was responsible for cleaning the bathrooms at the Miner Field at Norcross Park. It was the Commission’s responsibility that because this was Town property, the cleaning fell under the jurisdiction of the DPW. Betty will reply to Mr. Duhani’s correspondence explaining their understanding of the contract with Dennis Miner and the Town regarding cleaning of the bathroom facilities.
Betty received correspondence from Little League regarding dogs being allowed on town property. There was a recent incident where two dogs were viciously fighting at one of the fields in front of children. There is a bylaw that states dogs must be on leashes when not on their own property. However, the bylaw doesn’t say that dogs can’t be on town property. Betty will research this further.
Next meeting scheduled for Monday, June 2 at 7:00 p.m.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:20 p.m.
