For the majority of our employees, participation in our deferred compensation program is optional. (Participation is mandatory only if you are not eligible for a pension under WRR/MTRS and you are not currently collecting retirement benefits from WRR/MTRS.)
A deferred compensation program allows you to set aside a portion of your paycheck pre-tax and let it grow in an account until you retire. It is meant to supplement other retirement income you may be eligible for.
